The Messardière Prize for the Best Summer Novel – 23 to 25 May 2014
An exceptional location for an exceptional event…
For this its 4th edition, the «Messardière Prize for the Best Summer Novel » will reward one of the three competition finalists at a gala evening at the Château de la Messardière Palace Hotel on Saturday 24 May 2014.
Since its creation in 2011 the Prize has been awarded for the French novel which you just can’t put down, a summer page-turner. The competition is an excellent initiative launched by Château de la Messardière’s General Manager, Alexandre Durand-Viel: it rewards talented authors and provides book-readers with ideas for their summer reading.
Each year numerous writers and publishers participate in this cultural event, which has become a regular and influential date in the literary season. Summer is still our favourite time for reading a good novel.
The works which are still in the competition are:
Françoise Cloarec for « De père légalement inconnu - Of a father legally unknown»
Fréderique Deghelt for « Les brumes de l’apparence – The mists of appearance »
Colombe Schneck for « Mai 67 - May 67»
The finalists participate in a literary weekend at the Château de la Messardière from 23 to 25 May. A jury of professionals will listen to the presentation of their works, followed by a question and answer session which can include questions from the public. The jury will then award the prize for the Best Summer Novel. During the weekend the writers are supported by a personality, which for the 4th Edition is none other than the talented musician and composer Michel Legrand.
